last week in class we did a playful exercise. our partner were ask to stand still as possible while the other person administered strikes as close to our intended targets without any contact be made. it sounded very playgroundish but as the exercise progressed it was quite challenging.
as a striker we were learning about placement, hiding our intentions, NOT hiding our intentions, and literally learning how to practice on a human punching bag (very different when there is a potential of error in the equation that can bring harm to your partner as opposed to working on the same terms.).
as a striker going full speed and breaking hard at our various intended targets also taught us to invistigate where our tensions are in our body when we strike, where is our breath, where is our balance, WHERE IS YOUR MIND,is there anger, is there a void....etc?
I know we huff and puff and ready to blow the piggys house down when we are doing our push up holds but doing this for a minute or two will make you say ' manny, turn ALL the fans full blast and whip me hard with a gatorade!!!' . or fetal position yourself over by the puching bags sucking on your thumb thumb.
This is when you realise what manny means by ' move yourself into the direction of the punch'.
The aggressor role was a walk in a park with your 90 years old three leg pooch your great grand parents pass on to your grand parents...compared to being the upright piece of meat.
first you have to trust your partner whom you may have just seen five minutes ago for the first time. or worse your aware of your partners history of body/mental tension, all the girls in class are already partnered off and you forgot to say your prayers last night for the first time in ten years!!!
being the target allowed us to see in!! deep into ourselves! during this moment we have to sit 'helplessly' with our mind and live in our psyche. what comes up during this moment is our TRUTH!! what is happening to each of us at this moment is very personal and different . the truth in our strengths, our anxieties and our beliefs maybe challenged by an experience like this or something similar.
This exercise had no contact, no words, no stick nor knives. It had you challenging YOU and maybe told you why you do what you do........maybe?
a rush post but something to share!! ' Know thy self !!!'

Every one knows that men's life seems to be expensive, nevertheless we require cash for various issues and not every one gets enough money. Hence to get quick loans or just consolidation loans will be a correct solution.

I opine that to get the mortgage loans from creditors you ought to have a great motivation. Nevertheless, one time I have got a college loan, just because I was willing to buy a building.

Very interesting article - thanks!

Regarding 'The findings showed that facial feedback (such as imitating a smile) actually modifies the neural processing of emotional content in the brain, and concluded that our brain’s circuitry of emotion and happiness is activated when we smile!'

I wonder what the long term psychological impacts of having botox, or any other conditions (such as a stroke perhaps) have on emotional health and mental outlook.

Good point Manny! When it comes to this subject, I always recall Pat Riley's words about Vlade Divac (NBA): "We will never know what this man really can" - meaning that Divac was never over-working, no excessive movements, no extra effort to beautify the action. Just score with minimum engagement. That is how I see Systema should be done.
