Youth Systema martial arts training class for kids in Toronto

Dear Fellow Parents,

Our youth program is built on the same philosophy behind Eudaimonia: The Highest Human Good — the idea that true strength comes from character, not aggression. Every class channels that principle into something practical: a calmer, more confident child.

At FightClub, we don’t just focus on punching and kicking; more importantly, we focus on your child’s mental growth.

Our kids' martial arts training program teaches the importance of self-discipline and self-control. Class structure provides lifelong self-defence skills and teaches the value of staying healthy and in shape. Our approach is to educate your children to gain practical and usable knowledge in their everyday lives, going beyond the principles of traditions and techniques in martial arts.

We teach how to punch and kick, but we don’t stop there – our classes contain lessons in manners, anger management, non-violent conflict resolution, goal setting, self-improvement, and team building.

Kids martial arts classes at FightClub Toronto East York

Kids Martial Arts Classes

We train children of all ages and abilities to support and learn from each other. This allows children to take a leadership role, teach other children the skills they have learned, and be a good example in and out of the FightClub school. Self-defence training for kids is a skill set they will benefit from all their lives.

Martial arts for kids is one of the few sports that allows boys and girls to train together. It allows brothers and sisters to practice together and learn from one another. As children progress, many go on to train in our Systema program alongside adults, or take up traditional archery — both taught at our East York location.

Many team sports are seasonal, but FightClub is a year-round affair. This consistency helps build upon discipline and allows children to progress very quickly.

At FightClub, we nurture your child’s self-esteem and confidence. Though we try challenging the kids, we ensure the drills and techniques are easy.

To sum things up, “we focus on character development.”

“A great program, taught by a great teacher.
I wish a place like this existed when I was a kid"

Frequently Asked Questions

At what age can my child start martial arts at FightClub?

We welcome children of all ages and skill levels. Because our training method doesn't separate beginners from advanced students, kids can start whenever they're ready — there's no "waiting for the next beginner cycle."

Is Systema safe for kids?

Yes. Our youth classes are structured specifically around safe, age-appropriate drills. The focus is on control, awareness, and self-discipline first — technique is layered in gradually.

What should my child wear to class?

Sweatpants and a T-shirt. No shoes needed — kids train barefoot or in socks.

Can my child try a class before joining?

Absolutely. Visit our GET STARTED page, complete the online form and waiver, and come to class a few minutes early so we can show you around.

Do you offer both boys' and girls' martial arts classes in Toronto?

Yes — our youth classes are co-ed. Boys and girls, and siblings, train together, which is part of what makes the program work.

Go to the GET STARTED page of this website, complete a simple online form and waiver requesting to participate in a class, and then come to class. Please come a few minutes before the class begins so I can show you around and introduce myself.

Children need sweatpants and a T-shirt for training. They do not need shoes; they can work out on their bare feet or with socks.

Membership options can be explored once your children have experienced the training and you are confident that this is what you want.

Due to the unique training methodology, please note that there are no beginner versus advanced classes. The training is designed so that every skill level receives beneficial practice and achieves quick results. The atmosphere at the school is open, friendly, and highly productive.
