Where Can I Learn How to Shoot a Bow in Toronto?
If you've typed that question into a search bar, here's what you're actually asking: not "where's a bow I can hold," but "who's going to teach me to do this properly." That's the right question — and a good sign, because it means you're already thinking like an archer. The short answer is FightClub Toronto, at 401 Donlands Ave in East York. Here's exactly what learning archery here looks like, so you know what you're walking into.
What Learning to Shoot Actually Looks Like
Plenty of places will hand you a bow and point you at a target. Fewer will actually teach you. Real instruction starts before your first arrow ever leaves the string — with how you stand, how you breathe, and where you're holding tension you don't even know is there. At FightClub, we teach traditional archery: a recurve bow, no sights, no mechanical aids. That might sound like the harder way to start, but it's actually the better one — you're building real form and feel from day one, instead of leaning on equipment to compensate for form you never learned.

Your First Lesson, Step by Step
Here's exactly what starting looks like, with nothing left out:
Email archery@fight-club.ca, or send a message through our contact page.
Come in for a 60-minute introductory lesson ($100) — no bow, no gear, no experience needed. We provide everything.
Complete our archery safety test.
Register through the FightClub App and join the weekly training group.
From there, you're training alongside other archers — Monday to Friday evenings (6–9 pm) or Saturday mornings (11 am–1 pm) — on an indoor range that runs year-round, rain, snow, or heat wave.
What I Actually Focus On With a Beginner
I've trained in archery and martial arts for 40 years, and I've been teaching beginners at FightClub since 2003. Here's something that surprises almost everyone in their first lesson: it's not about hitting the target. Not yet. It's about your stance, your grip, and the breath you let out right before you release. Skip that part and you're just guessing with better posture. Get it right, and accuracy shows up on its own — usually faster than people expect. Where can I learn how to shoot a bow in Toronto?
Why It Sticks
Archery has a way of showing you exactly where your attention is — there's nothing to blame for a wide shot but your own breath and stillness in that moment. Most students tell me the one hour of their week their mind actually goes quiet is the hour they spend on our range. That's not an accident. It's the same idea behind Eudaimonia, the philosophy of disciplined practice behind everything we teach at FightClub — small, honest repetitions building into something bigger than the sum of them. If you want the fuller story of where traditional archery comes from and how it connects to that philosophy, it's worth a read here.
Start This Week
You don't need a bow. You don't need experience. You need one evening or one Saturday morning. Get started here, or email me at em@fight-club.ca and I'll walk you through it myself. Full program details and pricing are on our archery classes page.
See you on the range.
